Church notices

Thanks!!At this busy season we would like to THANK all those who have put in so much effort and commitment to provide the church decoration, special services, catering and hospitality this week and to prepare the church for our special Christmas celebrations.
Prayer Corner This year we want to introduce you to the Prayer Corner, which is at the front right hand corner of the church. If you have a prayer request please use the post-it note attached to your notice sheet (There are some more in the Corner.) and leave it attached to the inside of the prayer corner board. All the names usually in the notices have been placed on the prayer board. Also there is a Promise Chest where you can find many of God’s promises printed out for you to take away – please help yourself. This area will also be available after the services for anybody to visit and spend time there.
Christmas AppealThere are envelopes at the back of the church for this year’s Christmas Appeal, which will be divided between the work among the Elderly and the Youth in the parish.
PMWe hope to start Wednesday Friendship on 28th January from 2 – 4 p.m. This will include tea and cake plus some form of entertainment, e.g. quizzes, music, games, talks, etc. We are in need of some games to play. Can you please help by donating games e.g. dominoes, uno, beetle, bingo etc. Also we still need volunteers to run the afternoons on a rota basis. Please let Sally know if you can help with this project so a rota can be drawn up. Sally’s number is 432053. Please book this date and let others know. Transport can be arranged if needed.Stamps
TeaSunday 21 December- The Brownies will be holding a tea party with entertainment for grandparents and senior citizens at 4.15p.m. This will be followed by Carols by Candlelight in Church. Admission to the party is by ticket (free of charge) which are available from Margaret Langford.
CarolsSunday 21 December, Carols by Candlelight, - choir practices will be held on three Friday evenings (5th, 12th and 19th December at 7p.m.) – All welcome to join this enlarged choir.

Bible NotesThe time has come to prepare for next year’s bible notes. If you already receive bible notes and wish to continue then it would be very helpful if you could pay for the whole of 2009. The amount for the notes is as follows: Encounter with God (£15.80), Inspiring Women (£14.94), New Daylight (£11.10 - £14.97 for large print). Please make cheques payable to St Christopher’s Church and give to Liz Carter.
If anyone would like to try some Bible notes for FREE then please take one from the assortment in the church library, as an introduction. These could then be ordered for you on a monthly basis.
Help!!!Help urgently needed – volunteers are needed to help with the tea/coffee rota after the Sunday morning services. Please have a word with Debi Reeves or Betty Tanner if you can help.

Prayer Do you know anyone who needs prayer? – We would like to know and include them on our prayer list for the sick. We intend to keep names on the list for 4 weeks and ask that if they should remain longer that you let Pat or Bob Giles know. It would also be helpful if people could be identified on the list – e.g. Mrs Jones who is a neighbour of Mr & Mrs Smith or Mrs Jones who is in hospital this coming week etc.
Consent Parental Consent Forms – In order to comply with our Child Protection Policy, we are asking that parents of all children in Junior Church complete a Parental Consent form. If you have not yet completed a form for your child, please see one of the leaders who will let you have a copy.
Church School If any parent/guardian wishes their child to attend a local church school please see the notice at the back of the church which lays out the application procedure at St Christopher's.
LibraryChurch Library - please take the opportunity to borrow from the collection of Christian books on the bookshelf near the audiovisual desk in church.
Notices Any notices to Pat and Bob Giles in writing by Friday evening please.
Refreshments Are served in the hall after the service, all are welcome.
Always happy The church is always happy to help and if there are needs for lifts, a visit or a quiet chat please do have a word with someone. Nigel is happy to hear from you, as are Beryl and Sheila. If you are visiting for the first time please see one of the welcomers.
EvangelicalSt Christopher’s is now a member of the Evangelical Alliance, copies of the latest issue of their magazine ‘Idea’ are in the magazine rack in the church entrance area. ‘Idea’ has features and articles that very much relate our Christian faith to our everyday lives in the world. So please borrow a copy, read it and then return it to the magazine rack so that others can also have a good read!
