Alpha and Training Courses

ImageAs a Church we are committed to the Alpha Program.

Ever wondered what it's all about?

Over 10 million people worldwide have now attended an Alpha course, an opportunity to explore the meaning of life, running in tens of thousands of churches of all denominations across the world.

People attend for a wide variety of reasons - some want to investigate whether God exists, others may have attended church occasionally but feel they have never really understood the basics of the Christian faith. People come from many different backgrounds and hold many different viewpoints.

Toddler Group
Wednesdays 9.30 – 11.00am
The Toddler Group meets on Wednesday mornings in term time  in the Church Hall.  It is for children up to 31/2 years old and their carers.  We have a wide range of activities and on the first Wednesday of the month we enjoy a very informal, short Toddler Praise Service in Church.

So that we can organise activities in small groups, we limit our numbers to about 24 children.  We regularly have a full compliment but to contact us about availability, please contact Shirley on This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

Housegroups

As more people come to St. Christopher’s it is increasingly difficult to get to know everyone. House Groups are an opportunity to meet and get to know people within the context of a small group who meet in someone’s home. Each group meeting will include tea or coffee, opportunity to share ideas and issues, prayer, worship and Bible study. Whether you are a new Christian or have been on the way for many years it is always helpful to have fellowship with other believers and air any questions about the Christian faith that you may have. The relationships formed within the House Group also give you a first point of reference to the church when you need prayer or practical help.

If you would like to join a House Group or get more information, contact Rev. David Hoyle at 01202 430078.

Men's Group
Before Christmas, we will be meeting for several exclusive events, including breakfast and meals with guest speakers, and a skittles evening in the church hall in November.

Women's Programme and Prayer Group

The Ladies Prayer Meeting is held on the penultimate Thursday each month in the Church and is open for any lady who wishes to attend. The evening is spent in worship, praise and intercession for all aspects of church life but particularly for those who are suffering ill health or bereavement. If you would like to be part of this vital ministry at St. Christopher’s please contact Shirley Hoyle at 01202 430078

Music Styles

We worship using a wide range of modern and traditional style music we are developing a team of instrumentalists and singers who play and lead at the majority of the morning services.  There is a small choir who assist leading the first Sunday of each month in the morning.

Our Motiv8 cafe service is more upbeat and some of our young people lead and assist in the music’.Larger festivals such as Christmas, Easter and Pentecost incorporate the rich breadth which is available in Christian music and worship.   .

On the first Sunday of each month at 6pm there is an informal time of worship and songs led by the band in a cafe style.  All are very welcome.

Sunday Groups
Our Explorers Group is aimed at children aged between 6 and 10.  It is held during the morning service except on the second Sunday of the month when we attend the family service.

We run workshop and group activities tailored to this age group.  A typical session will include a Bible story, some colouring or creative craft, singing or drama and prayers,  around a Bible story and Bible message.  We aim to help children start to develop a lifetime relationship with God and to be able to question what the Bible teaches them.

Every Christmas we participate in the annual Church nativity play with the other groups in Junior Church taking on a number of the acting roles.
